Remembrances

                                         Welcome

I would like to welcome you to the Remembrances page. At this time, I have two books available for viewing. The titles are Remembrances of Things Past So Quietly Revisited (top of this page) and Looking Back (bottom of this page). Both books take us on a journey down Memory Lane. The former shares some past memories from my first 74 years while the latter, largely based on the ’65 Talon, memorializes my senior year at Kelly High School. (I recognize and give credit to the 1965 Talon for my use of many of its photos that are contained within this book.)

It is no secret that I like to reminisce. Although very tedious and time-consuming to write, edit, and code, I have really enjoyed the challenge of writing each of these flip books. The first book has 998 pages and the second one has 192 pages.  Enjoy!

                                 Follow These Instructions

I have tested this software on my Windows laptop and on my Android phone. On both machines, the application appears to be performing flawlessly. As these books are graphicly intensive, please be patient as the pages may not load very fast. One should note that the following instructions are specific to a Windows machine; therefore, the navigation for the apple and android operating systems most likely will be a little different. I think that the software, however, should work on all operating systems.

Before viewing the Remembrances of Things Past So Quietly Revisited flip book, you should listen to the two audios below the instructions on this page. Due to an unresolved technical issue with the WordPress flip book plugin, these two audios, unfortunately, do not appear on the Welcome page of the Remembrances of Things Past So Quietly Revisited flip book as they should have. (You will not see the expected green arrows (audio) on the flip book Welcome page!) In the off-line stand-alone version of the flip book, the green arrow (audios) do appear as expected and as coded. Go figure! (The inclusion of these two audio files following the instructions on this page is my workaround for addressing this omission. Unfortunately I have been unable to resolve this online problem.)

Correction: In my instructions for viewing the videos inside the flip books, I tell the reader to close his browser after the video is played. (That instruction only applies to the off-line version of the software.) I should have written, ‘after playing the video, close that specific page or tab where the video resides by xing it out of your browser. Now, return to the Remembrances page and to the ebook’. In my Google Chrome browser, once I close or x out the specific page where the video resides, I am automatically returned to the Remembrances page. I do, however, have to physically make the ebook fullscreen again.

Let’s now take a look at how to get around in these two books on your Windows machine. The main navigation buttons are the three parallel horizontal bars icon, fullscreen, zoom-in, search, the left or right-pointing arrows used to  move the pages forward and backward, the page count (1/998), and the left and right pointing double arrows (beginning and end). Other navigation buttons relate to thumbnails, sharing the books, sound, and auto flipping pages.

For the best experience in viewing the two flip books on your Windows machine, follow the first three steps below.

  1. Listen to the two audios (Remembrances of Things Past So Quietly Revisited only)
  2. Click on (or touch, if no mouse) on the three parallel horizontal line icon at the top of the application to open the drop-down menu.
  3. Click on (or touch, if no mouse) on fullscreen.
  4. Now, you are ready to view the flip book. Enjoy!
  5. Note that there is a zoom-in icon and a search icon. The zoom-in icon (magnifying glass with the + sign ) is great for looking at the smaller photos. The search icon works well for finding specific pages or key words. (Just click the search button, enter the page number or word in the box, and hit search. It is very fast!) Both are very useful and work extremely well.  You can use the esc (escape) button on your keyboard to get out of the fullscreen mode.*t

Listen to the two audios below before viewing the  Remembrances of Things Past So Quietly Revisited flip book.
